Status:-

  • Identified by MONENCO in “Inventory and Ranking Study” in November 1984.
  • The Contract Agreement for the Feasibility Study was signed between WAPDA and a JV comprising of Lahmeyer International (Germany) as Lead firm with NDC (Pak) and BAK (Pak) on 05.11.2015.
  • Field investigations like Topographic Survey, Environmental Survey, Borehole drilling, Seismic Refraction Survey, Audit at Dam site D3 have been completed.
  • Revised PC-II amounting to Rs. 1,084.304 Million was approved by Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) during its meeting held on 1.11.2019.
  • THC has submitted the Final Feasibility Reports of the Thakot-I Hydropower Project on 19.05.2022.
  • ADB has shown their willingness for the study of a potential hydropower project through Project Readiness Financing (PRF). WAPDA through Member (Water) has requested MoWR on 20.05.2022 to approach ADB through Economic Affairs Division (EAD) for arranging the PRF of US$ 07 Million for carrying out detailed Engineering Design and preparation of Tender Documents of Thakot-III Hydropower Project.
  • ADB on 18.07.2022 has requested to conduct Fact-Finding Mission for the PRF facility for Thakot-III Hydropower Project which is scheduled from 16.08.2022 to 23.08.2022.
