 Tailrace Tunnel Blockage and Powerhouse Shutdown
• Excessive leakage/seepage was observed in the powerhouse from 04.07.2022 to 06.07.2022. In order to keep find-out the cause of excessive seepages of water, joint visits and inspections of the powerhouse by the NJHPC team and Project Consultants were carried out on 05.07.2022. It was found that the downstream water head was increased from 600 meters to 616 meters.
• After dewatering the lower section of the tailrace tunnel, a team visited the tunnel on 31.07.2022 up to the collapsed area & observed complete blockage of the tunnel at Chainage 0+293.
• Negotiations with the sitting Contractor M/s CGGC continued to finalize contract conditions and estimated cost of additional works for restoring the tailrace tunnel.
