Completion of WAPDA projects in shortest possible time is priority: WAPDA Chairman

Lahore – August 25, 2016: Chairman WAPDA Lt Gen (R) Muzammil Hussain today presided over a number of meetings at WAPDA House, which were attended by Members of the Authority, Secretary WAPDA, Managing Director (Administration) WAPDA and other senior officers.       

Speaking on the occasion, the newly appointed Chairman Lt Gen (R) Muzammil Hussain said that he accepted the challenging assignment of Chairman WAPDA and would make all out effort to make a difference. The Chairman thanked the Prime Minister for reposing trust for the job of critical national importance. He said “he is determined to perform his duties with a sense of fulfilling assignment of national significance. It is a huge trust which obviously put enormous pressure on me and my team to match up with the expectations of the Prime Minister and fulfill Government’s agenda of completing the hydel projects by the deadline”.

Dilating upon his priorities, the Chairman said that his first priority would be to complete the under-construction hydropower projects in the shortest possible time. Side by side, construction work on ready-to-construct water and hydropower projects will also be initiated on fast track basis by removing bottle necks in the way to their implementation, he added.

The Chairman also had interaction with employees of WAPDA in a get-to-gather specially arranged for the purpose. Interacting with the employees, he said that we will work together for well-being of the employees, improvement in the organisation and development of the country.

It is pertinent to mention that the newly appointed Chairman of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Lt Gen (R) Muzammil Hussain assumed the charge of office here at the WAPDA House the other day.

Lt Gen (R) Muzammil Hussain is the 22^nd Chairman of WAPDA. Prior to his appointment as Chairman WAPDA, he served Pakistan Army for about 38 years. During his service in Pakistan Army, he discharged his duties on a number of important positions including Defence Attache in Jakarta (Indonesia), Chief Instructor in Command and Staff College Quetta and Div Commander in Gilgit-Baltistan. His passion for adventurism led him to phenomenal support of Gilgit-Baltistan political Government and supported them in exploring energy resources. His popularity with the people of Gilgit-Baltistan gives him a unique distinction. He also served as Inspector General (Training & Evaluation) in General Headquarters (GHQ), Rawalpindi. He also has the honour to command 30 Corps Gujranwala. He has been a regular speaker in seminars on Pakistan successful transition to democracy and economic positive trajectory in universities in UK.
