WAPDA CHAIRMAN VISITS GOLEN GOL HYDROPOWER PROJECT

Lahore – September 16, 2016: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (R) has urged upon the project management for completion of Golen Gol Hydropower Project according to the timelines that have been set for the purpose.

He expressed these views during his visit to the project being constructed by WAPDA in Chitral district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

On the occasion, WAPDA Chairman visited various construction sites including weir (dam), diversion tunnel, powerhouse, switch yard and transmission line to review progress on the project. The project management briefed the Chairman about the construction work done so far on the project.

It is pertinent to mention that Golen Gol Hydropower Project is being constructed on River Golen Gol, a tributary of River Mastuj. Power generation capacity of the project is 108 mega watt (MW). On completion, it will contribute 442 million units of low-cost hydel electricity to the National Grid every year.
