CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: WAPDA ORGANISES 4-DAY FREE MEDICAL CAMP AT KOHISTAN

February 10, 2017: In line with its corporate social responsibility, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) organised a 4-day medical camp in the far-flung areas of Kohistan District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. The medical camp which was set up under the aegis of WAPDA Medical Services, concluded the other day.

During the medical camp, free-of-the-cost medical coverage was provided to the people in seven different remote villages of Kohistan District including Doga, Summar Nullah, Shatial, Kandia, Barseen and Chuchang. WAPDA Medical Team was comprised of a Surgical Specialist, a Medical Specialist, a Child Specialist, a Chest Specialist, two Medical Officers and three Lady Doctors, who, during the camp, checked up about 2500 patients – majority of them were women and children. The patients were also provided with free medicines. In addition, minor operative procedures were also carried out during the camp to provide relief to the ailing people.

It is pertinent to mention that WAPDA is constructing Dasu Hydropower Project in the suburban areas of Dasu in Kohistan District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. Besides compensating the locals for their land and assets being acquired for construction of the project, WAPDA is also implementing a number of schemes for socio-economic development of the locals – health, education and infrastructure being the priority areas.
