INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS - WAPDA CHAIRMAN HOISTS NATIONAL FLAG AT WAPDA HOUSE

14 aug o1Lahore – August 14, 2018: A graceful ceremony was held here today at WAPDA House to celebrate the Independence Day with national zeal. WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (Retd) was the chief guest on the occasion who hoisted the National Flag followed by the National Anthem that was sung by the students of WAPDA schools in consonance with the main flag hoisting ceremony at Islamabad.

The Authority Members, , Human Resource Development General Manager Brig (R) Shoaib Taqi, WAPDA senior officers, employees and their families were also present on the occasion.

The students of WAPDA schools presented national songs in the ceremony. The students also enthralled the spectators with their speeches highlighting importance of freedom as well as responsibilities to safeguarding it.

Addressing the ceremony, WAPDA Chairman appreciated the performance of the students and teachers of WAPDA schools. He said that he is sure the future of Pakistan is bright with such talented and hard working youth. He further said that WAPDA is committed to progress and integrity of the country, adding that it has succeeded in regaining its lead role for National development during the last two years because of the sheer commitment and hard work of its engineers and other employees. Expressing satisfaction over recent achievements of WAPDA, the Chairman said that WAPDA completed four mega projects during the last one year including Kachhi Canal, Golen Gol, Tarbela 4th Extension and Neelum Jhelum Hydropower projects to irrigate 72000 acres of land and add 2487 MW of electricity to the National Grid.

Later, the Chairman presented gifts to the children of deceased WAPDA employees. The prizes were also given to the students of WAPDA Schools and their teachers.

It is pertinent to mention that a huge National Flag, especially prepared for the Independence Day measuring 100 feet x 40 feet and weighing 180 kilograms, has also been hung on WAPDA House.
