WORLD BANK DELEGATION CALLS ON CHAIRMAN WAPDA

October 11, 2023: A 4-member World Bank delegation, headed by South Asia Region Practice Manager for Energy Simon Stolp, called on Chairman WAPDA Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd) today. Member Finance (WAPDA) Naveed Asghar Chaudhary, Member Water (WAPDA) Javed Akhtar Latif and Member Power (WAPDA) Jamil Akhtar were also present on the occasion.

Mohmand Dam Project: Chairman WAPDA for ensuring completion of diversion scheme in upcoming low-flow season

September 7, 2023: During his visit to the under-construction Mohmand Dam Project today, Chairman WAPDA Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd) has directed the contractor to ensure completion of the diversion system during the up-coming low-flow season for diversion of River Swat.

Kurram Tangi Dam Project Stage-II WAPDA inks Consultancy Services Contract with Joint Venture

September 01, 2023: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) signed an agreement worth Rs.776.3 million to a joint venture for consultancy services for Stage-II of Kurram Tangi Dam Project. The joint venture is comprised of four firms – one from Turkey and three from Pakistan – with DOLSAR as the lead firm. The contract comprises of consultancy services for detailed engineering design, preparation of updated PC-I, PC-I for land acquisition and resettlement plan, and tender documents of the project. Duration of consultancy contract is 22 months. The Asian Development Bank is providing financial assistance for the consultancy services of the Stage-II.

Hydel generation up with improved hydrological conditions: WAPDA generates 7286 MW hydel electricity; highest of the season

July 18, 2023: Electricity generation by WAPDA hydel power stations surpasses 7000 MW mark as WAPDA contributes 7286 MW to the National Grid during peak hours last night. Effective operation and maintenance of WAPDA hydel power stations, improved inflows in the rivers, increased level of water reservoirs and indent by the IRSA are the contributing factors behind the surge in hydel power generation by WAPDA.

Neelum Jhelum Project all set to restart electricity generation by end July Chairman WAPDA reviews preparedness level at project

July 15, 2023: The 969-MW Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project is all set to resume electricity generation by the end of this month, as restoration works in tail race tunnel of the project are nearing completion.
