TARBELA 4TH HYDEL POWER STATION ACHIEVES 10-BILLION UNITS MARK; YIELDS RS.75 BILLION REVENUE

T4 Today1 min 10 09 2020September 10, 2020: In yet another significant development towards contribution of low-cost hydel electricity to the National Grid, Tarbela 4th Extension Hydel Power Station crossed 10-billion units generation mark last night, as it has contributed 10.021 billion units to the system. This contribution of Tarbela 4th Extension Hydel Power Station yielded a revenue of about Rs.75 billion to WAPDA. Simultaneously, it also accrued saving worth Rs.100 billion to the national exchequer, which would otherwise have been borne to generate same quantum of electricity through thermal resources.

August 28, 2020:The two mega water reservoirs of Mangla and Tarbela have been filled to their maximum capacity last night, resulting in the record availability of water in the two dams, which is being regarded a good omen for agriculture and hydel power generation in Pakistan in the days to come.

Hydel Generation on the Rise: WAPDA hydel generation surpasses 8500 MW for first time 8757 MW delivered to National Grid during peak hours

PHOTO 2020 27augAugust 27, 2020: Electricity generation of hydel power stations owned and operated by Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) surpassed 8500 megawatt (MW) mark for the first time in Pakistan, as WAPDA provided 8757 MW of electricity to the National Grid during peak hours the other day. Previously, the record of hydel power generation was 8474 MW delivered to the system on September 11, last year.

This record generation of hydel electricity by WAPDA is the result of higher reservoir level at Tarbela and Mangla dams, increased water outflows as per indent by Indus River System Authority (IRSA) and effective operation of WAPDA hydel power stations.

WAPDA starts process to Construct remaining works of Kachhi Canal Phase-I : Also initiates process to carry out Phase-II, Phase-III feasibility studies

IMG 20200826 WA0001August 26, 2020: In view of its importance for development of irrigated agriculture and poverty alleviation in remote areas of Balochistan leading towards eradication of extremism from the province, Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) has initiated the process for construction of remaining works relating to Kachhi Canal Project Phase-I, which will enable Balochistan to irrigate another 30,000 acres of land in Dera Bugti District. Besides, the process for carrying out feasibility studies of Kachhi Canal Project Phase –II and Phase-III have also been started.
