Improved Medical Facilities: Dialysis Centers set up in WAPDA hospitals at Lahore, Multan, Gujranwala

June 4, 2021: In pursuit to its commitment to providing improved health care facilities to the employees and their families, WAPDA has set up dialysis centres in three of its hospitals at Lahore, Multan and Gujranwala under Public Private Partnership. Prior to establishing these centres, the patients had to be referred to government and private hospitals for their dialysis.WAPDA plans to extend dialysis facility in other WAPDA hospitals across the country in next few months.

PM’s address to the launching ceremony of WAPDA’s debut Green Euro (Indus Bond) for construction of Diamer Basha and Mohmand dams

ISLAMABAD, May 31 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday formally launched the country’s first green Eurobond, called Indus bond, by Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to meet the financial needs of the construction of Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand dams.

Islamabad, 27 May 2021:President Dr Arif Alvi has asked WAPDA to accelerate its efforts for the completion of the K-IV water supply project within stipulated timelines in order to meet the water requirements of the residents of Karachi. He said that Karachi faced severe water shortage and the project needed to be carried out on fast-track basis so that clean drinking water could be provided to its citizens. He urged the concerned stakeholders to work in close coordination for expediting work on the project to overcome Karachi’s water woes. The President gave these remarks at a briefing regarding the K-IV Project, given by Chairman WAPDA, Lt. Gen. (R) Muzammil Hussain, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Governor Sindh, Mr. Imran Ismail and senior officials of the Federal Government.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC UPLIFT OF LOCALS: WAPDA SPENDING RS.100 BILLION IN PROJECT AREAS

May 24, 2021: In addition to stabilizing national economy by developing irrigated agriculture, mitigating devastating floods and injecting low-cost hydel electricity into the National Grid, WAPDA projects also play a phenomenal role in socio-economic development of the people residing in the project areas. This can best be judged from the fact that WAPDA has been spending a hefty amount of over Rs.100 billion in the project areas for progress and prosperity of the local populace.

PM visits site of Mohmand Dam to oversee construction work

MOHMAND, May 19 (APP): Prime Minister Imran Khan visited the site of Mohmand Dam on Wednesday to review the ongoing construction work.

Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Lt Gen (retd) Muzammil Hussain briefed the prime minister on the progress of the project.
