May 13, 2020: In the wake of a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Mr. Imran Khan couple of days ago about water security and construction of mega dams including Diamer Basha Dam Project, all efforts are underway by the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to ensure timely mobilization of the contractor and effective follow up on Diamer Basha Dam Project.

April 24, 2020: In what can be termed a good omen for agriculture and hydropower generation in Pakistan, the cumulative quantum of water available at present in Mangla, Tarbela and Chashma reservoirs is far better than that of the previous years.

National strategy needed to address impact of climate change on water resources: WAPDA Chairman

Lahore – March 21, 2020: WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (Retd), in his message on the occasion of World Water Day to be observed on March 22, said climate change has been impacting the availability of surface water in Pakistan, as climate and water are inextricably interlinked. In order to tackle the adverse impact of climate change vis-à-vis water security in the country, a multi-pronged strategy needs to be devised at the national level.

WAPDA, PEPCO DEPARTMENTAL PROMOTION EXAMS POSTPONED

Lahore – March 16, 2020: in the wake of impending Coronavirus alert and the measures advised by the Federal Government, the Departmental Promotion Examinations of Pakistan Water And Power Development Authority (WAPDA), Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO), Power Information Technology Company (PITC), DISCOs, and GENCOs have been postponed for three weeks.

The examinations were scheduled to be held from March 16, 2020 to March 20, 2020 at Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Islamabad, Tarbela, Peshawar, Hyderabad, and Quetta simultaneously

The WAPDA Examinations Directorate in its notification has mentioned that the revised schedule of said examinations will be announced later on.
