FY 2018-19: WAPDA provides 31.425 billion units hydel power to National Grid

July 1, 2019: Despite low flows and less availability of water in the country, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) contributed 31.425 billion units of low-cost hydel electricity to the National Grid during the fiscal year 2018-19. This quantum of electricity is 4.358 billion units more if compared with the hydel generation of the fiscal year 2017-18. This additional contribution of hydel electricity not only helped resolve the issue of loadshedding in the country but also stabilize the power tariff.

June 28, 2019: British Queen’s Trade Commissioner to the Middle East, Afghanistan and Pakistan Simon Penney, appreciating Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) for successful commissioning of Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project last year, has said that it is an important project that will deliver energy to thousands of people in Pakistan.

June 26, 2019: As the water flows increase with rising temperature in the catchment area, Golen Gol Hydropower Project today attained its maximum generation capacity of 108 MW.

WAPDA SIGNS CONSULTANCY AGREEMENT FOR MOHMAND DAM PROJECT

May 21, 2019: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) signed the contract agreement worth Rs.9.98 billion with a Joint Venture namely Mohmand Dam Consultants Group (MDCG) for consultancy services for construction design, construction supervision and contract management of Mohmand Dam Hydropower Project. The Joint Venture, led by NESPAK, comprises six partners and seven sub-consultants (four foreign and nine local firms).
