Neelum Jhelum Project’s 1st Unit successfully completes reliability test; Commercial operation to be started soon

May 04, 2018: The first unit of Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project successfully completed the reliability test today, paving the way for its commercial operation. Under the protocols, the unit will now be checked completely and adjustments if any will be carried out by the manufacturer / contractor. The unit is expected to start commercial operation thereafter. The first generating unit of Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project was synchronized with the system on April 9. The second unit was scheduled in May, however, WAPDA succeeded in commissioning this unit for trial generation ahead of schedule and synchronized it with the National Grid on April 22. Both generating units, have provided around 20 million units of electricity to the National Grid during their test run.

NEELUM JHELUM PROJECT’S 2ND UNIT STARTS GENERATION ON TRIAL BASIS

Lahore - April 24, 2018: In yet another development, the second unit of Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project, which went into trial generation two days ago, achieved full generation capacity of 242 MW today (April 24) after having been tested successfully with 100% load rejection.

WAPDA CHAIRMAN DISCUSSES FINANCING OF WAPDA PROJECTS WITH KFW

Lahore - April 19, 2018: A 4-member delegation of KfW - a German Financial Institution - headed by its recently appointed Division Chief (Infrastructure and Finance) for Pakistan Ms. Veronica Garcia today called on Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussain (Retired) here at WAPDA House. The matters relating to financing of WAPDA projects in water and hydropower sectors were discussed in detail during the meeting.

PM inaugurates 969 MW-Neelum Jhelum Power Project

MUZAFFARABAD, April 13 (APP):Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Friday inaugurated the much-awaited Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project to inject 969 megawatt of electricity to national grid as a historic milestone to meet country’s growing power needs.
