First meeting of Dams Implementation Committee

July 12, 2018: In the wake of the Supreme Court’s historic judgement of July 4, 2018 aimed at expediting the construction of two mega dams i.e. Diamer Basha and Mohmand, the maiden meeting of the Implementation Committee of Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dams (ICDBMD) was held today at ICDBMD Secretariat in Islamabad.

Neelum Jhelum Project’s Power Intake System completed

July 11, 2018: The Power intake system of Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project at dam site has been completed with the operationalization of the third de-sander in order to meet water requirement for generating power from all units of the project.

July 10, 2018: All officers of Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) will donate their two-day salary; while officials from BPS 1 to 16 will contribute one-day salary to Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund - 2018, established in light of the Supreme Court’s historic decision for construction of the two vital projects to increase water storage capacity to meet the increasing requirement of water in the country.

NEELUM JHELUM POWER GENERATION INCREASES TO 726 MW: THIRD POWER GENERATING UNIT ALSO GOES INTO OPERATION

July 10, 2018: The power generation from strategically important Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project has increased to 726 MW today. At present, three out of four units of the project i.e. Unit No. 2, 3 and 4 are contributing to the National Grid upto their maximum generation capacity.

July 09, 2018.Following the Supreme Court’s historic judgment of July 4, 2018 to expedite the construction of two critical dams namely Diamer Basha and Mohmand, a Secretariat has been established at Islamabad for the Implementation Committee of Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dams (ICDBMD).
