NEELUM JHELUM ALL SET TO START ELECTRICITY GENERATION WATER FILLING STARTS IN HEAD RACE TUNNEL

March 01, 2018: The strategically important Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project, located in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, is all set to start electricity generation, as water filling in head race tunnel commenced today. The head race tunnel is a component of 52 kilometer long water way system of the project that has been constructed underground in the high mountain areas to divert water from the water reservoir to the power house of the project. Subsequent to filling of the head race tunnel, wet commissioning of the first generating unit will be carried out, meaning thereby, electricity generation will start from the project by end of the current month.

WAPDA ACHIEVES YET ANOTHER LANDMARK

February 26, 2018: Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) achieved yet another landmark towards energy security of the country, as Tarbela 4th Extension Hydropower Project started electricity generation today. The first generating unit, put into operation has started providing electricity to the National Grid.

WAPDA Chairman discusses financing for WAPDA projects with French Ambassador

January 26, 2018: The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) WAPDA Chairman Lieutenant General Muzammil Hussain (Retd) today called on French Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Marc Barety and discussed with him the matters relating to mutual cooperation for optimal utilization of water and hydropower resources in Pakistan through various WAPDA projects.
