Construction of Kachhi Canal Project to be completed by 3rd week of August Canal to be commissioned by end August ; WAPDA

KACHI CANAL project

Lahore-August 12, 2017: Following the delay of more than a decade, the construction of Kachhi Canal Project will finally be completed by third week of August followed by filling of water to test the main canal and its structures, while formal commissioning of Kachhi Canal is scheduled by end August 2017 with release of water into the distribution system for irrigation of 72000 acres of virgin land in Dera Bugti district of Balochistan province.

Lahore – July 28, 2017: The strategically important Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project (NJHP) is fast heading towards its completion, and is scheduled to start electricity generation with commissioning of its first generating unit by February 2018.

Lahore – July 07, 2017: The water infrastructure and irrigated agriculture in Balochistan will achieve a landmark next month as Kachhi Canal Project will be complete in August this year. The project which started in 2002, was almost abandoned due to grossly cost and time overrun for various reasons. With the Federal Government’s support and excellent work by WAPDA engineers, the project was re-energised and is likely to see the light of the day after 15 years.
