NEELUM JHELUM PROJECT: 68-KM TUNNELS EXCAVATION MEETING COMPLETION ON MAY 5

May 3, 2017: The strategically important 969 MW-Neelum Jhelum Hydropower project will mark a major mile stoneon May 5 towards its completion, as excavation of about 68-kilometer long tunnels system of the project will stand completed, when the second Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) deployed on the project will breakthrough the Right Headrace Tunnel. With this significant development, the water way system of the project will enter the final phase which is scheduled to be completed in seven months. Thereafter, the tunnels will be ready to divert water from Dam site to Power House.

WAPDA LAUNCHES FREE TRANSPORT SERVICE FOR DASU PROJECT'S AFFECTEES

April 30, 2017:* The Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) launched free-of-the-cost air-conditioned transport service for affectees of Dasu Hydropower Project in Kohistan District of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Province. The service has been provided to the local populace as part of WAPDA’s corporate social responsibility, as directed by WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (R) during his visit to the project on February 20.

49 WAPDA OFFICERS PROMOTED TO NEXT RANKS

Lahore – April 26, 2017: A meeting of the Senior Selection Board was held to consider promotion of WAPDA officers to the next ranks. The meeting, presided over by WAPDA Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (R), was attended by WAPDA Members and the senior officers concerned.
