Lahore – April 10, 2017: While restrategising its priorities for optimal utilization of water and hydropower resources in the country, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) is implementing as many as eight mega projects on fast track basis with cumulative power generation capacity of more than 10,000 mega watt (MW) and gross water storage capacity of 10.6 million acre feet (MAF). Once completed, these projects will go a long way in fulfilling the increasing requirements of water and electricity in the country.

Lahore – April 8, 2017: In view of the significance of Kachhi Canal for development of irrigated agriculture in backward areas of Balochistan, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) is committed to complete Phase-I of this project by end December in phased manner to irrigate 72,000 acres of virgin land in the remote areas of Dera Bugti District – 55,000 acres in August and 17,000 by end December 2017.

WAPDA TO ORGANIZE CONSULTATIVE SEMINAR WITH ITS FORMER CHAIRMEN

Lahore – April 6, 2017: In what can be termed the first move of its kind, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (R) has invited former Chairmen WAPDA to a consultative seminar, scheduled to be held at WAPDA House next week.

Delegation of Command and Staff College Quetta briefed about water, power sectors

Lahore – April 3, 2017: Delegation of Command and Staff College, Quetta visited WAPDA House today and attended a briefing on the water and power sectors during their study tour. The delegation was led by senior instructor Col Hussain. Member Power Badr-ul-Munir Murtiza and senior officers of WAPDA and PEPCO were also present on the occasion.

History Made: WAPDA secures unprecedented local financing of Rs.144 billion for Dasu Project

March 29, 2017: In yet another significant development, the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) secured Rs.144 billion for Dasu Hydropower Project by signing an agreement of local debt financing with a consortium of major local banks led by Habib Bank Limited (HBL). This is by far the biggest single loan agreement for any public sector entity in the history of Pakistan.
