PAF Air War College Delegation Briefed at WAPDA House about Water, Power Sectors

Lahore – December 23, 2016: A delegation of PAF Air War College, Karachi headed by Air Commodore Hussain Ahmed Siddiqui, today visited WAPDA House. During the visit, the delegation was briefed about water and power sectors of the country. WAPDA Member (Power) Badr-ul-Munir Murtiza, acting Member (Water) Nasir Hanif and senior officers of WAPDA were also present on the occasion.

US to Provide $81 Million for Construction of Stage-I of KurramTangi Dam

December 14, 2016:The United States signed an agreement to provide US $ 81 million (over Rs. 8.5 billion) to the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) for the construction of Kurram Tangi Dam Project, Stage-I (the Kaitu Weir) in North Waziristan Agency of FATA. The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and WAPDA signed the agreement at a ceremony today.

WAPDA, Affectees Reach Consensus About Land Acquisition for Dasu Project

December 8, 2016: Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) reached a consensus with the stakeholders including affectees of Dasu Hydropower Project relating to acquisition of land and infra-structure as well as social sector development in the project area, paving the way to smooth and speedy implementation of the project. The consensus was forged as a result of    2-month detailed negotiations among the stakeholders.

NDU Delegation Briefed About Water, Power Sectors

Lahore – December 5, 2016: A delegation of the participants of National Security Workshop, National Defence University (NDU) Islamabad today visited WAPDA House. Headed by NDU Director General Major General Ghulam Qamar, the delegation comprised of the Senators, Members of the National and Provincial Assemblies, senior civil and military officers and notables from civil society. The delegation was briefed about water and power sectors of the country. WAPDA Member (Power) Badr-ul-Munir Murtiza and senior officers of WAPDA were also present on the occasion.

Contractor mobilized for construction of Kurram Tangi Dam Project (Stage-I) Mohmand Dam detailed engineering design to be completed in February 2017

Lahore – November 17, 2016: Following award of the contract for Kurram Tangi Dam Project (Stage-I), the contractor has been mobilized to the site to start construction work on the project.

This was stated by the Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt Gen Muzammil Hussain (R) during his visit to Kurram Tangi Dam site located in North Waziristan Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) today.
