August 27, 2022: Water Resources Federal Secretary Dr. Kazim Niaz and WAPDA Chairman Lt. Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd) today visited Mohmand Dam Project to review the situation in the project area in the wake of the unprecedented flood peaks in River Swat.

August 26, 2022: Extra ordinary flood situation is witnessed in River Swat at under-construction Mohmand Dam Project site. Resultantly, flood water entered the diversion tunnels breaching and overtopping the protection dyke, which adversely affected the construction activities at the Project. Exceptionally high water flows are expected in River Swat in the coming hours as well. With this in view, project management has taken precautionary measures and is closely watching the situation to mitigate any further damage.

On time completion of projects is foremost priority: WAPDA Chairman

​August 22, 2022: ​Pakistan Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Chairman Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (Retd) has said that his foremost priority is to complete under-construction WAPDA projects as per their schedules, in addition to initiating new projects to cope with increasing requirements of water and electricity in the country.This was the crux of the Chairman’s interaction during a week-long briefing sessions about under construction WAPDA projects including Mohmand Dam, Diamer Basha Dam and Dasu Hydropower Project. WAPDA Members Finance, Water and Power, Diamer Basha Dam Chief Executive Officer, General Managers and representatives of the Consultants and Contractors of the projects’ attended these briefings.

Tarbela Dam filled to maximum level of 1550 feet 5.827 MAF water available in Dam; good omen for agriculture, hydel generation

August 20, 2022: The mega water reservoir of Tarbela has been filled to its maximum level of 1550 feet above mean sea level, resulting in 5.827 million acre feet (MAF) of water in the Dam, which is a good omen for agriculture and hydel power generation in Pakistan in the days to come.
